My Magical Friend : Books

Most people say books are a bore! Do you think this is true? If you don’t think so, I’m sure you’re a bookworm! If you said yes, LISTEN UP! I am sure you like fiction better than non-fiction. I like fiction the best. It’s more mysterious, adventurous and magical. I’m sure children my age would agree. Non-fiction is all about someone or something that happened in real life.

Fiction books let you imagine what’s going to happen. That’s the best part. It also includes what children like. A few children think reading is dreadful and a waste of time. But actually, they are missing out on the fun! When you are absorbed in a book, you feel like you’re a part of it all, you can’t stop reading! Books by authors like Enid Blyton, J.K. Rowling, etc are great! They’re my favourite since they are all about adventure and magic, mostly fantasy. Reading those books helps improve my creativity and imagination and yes, my vocabulary (how I speak and write).

Reading enhances my knowledge and imagination. It has helped me to think out-of-the-box. When I’m supposed to stop reading, I don’t want to, I want to read on. It’s like a stressbuster, it helps me relax or calm down when I’m feeling sad or angry or even irritated. Even non-fiction books are interesting and exciting! As an added benefit of reading you improve your speaking and writing skills (vocabulary). Now, go grab a book and see how much fun it is to read!

About the Author

My name is Ellena and I am 11 years old. I am a kid who is passionate about reading. Due to this, my younger siblings have also inculcated the habit of reading. I also like to play with my little sisters and my friends and play sports like badminton and football. They help me to relax and have fun. Since the lockdown, I have been able to spend time with my family more than ever. I like listening to other children voice their opinion on books because reading is my passion. I also make new games to play with my little sisters. This energizes my mind. Reading boosts my creativity and innovative thinking and reasoning. I am also interested in sewing and because of this, my grandmother has gifted me a sewing machine.
