Child Safety

At Legacy School, we have envisioned our institution to be a peaceful, secure, safe, friendly and happy place for children and educators to interact; where learning is interesting, challenging, exciting and enjoyable; where a child feels protected and loved, a school which meets a child’s learning, educational and holistic developmental needs. In view of this, we have always had a number of measures in place to safeguard the well-being of our children to the best of our ability. The safety measures include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 24 Hours Security and CCTV Surveillance
  • Lady security officers have been assigned as campus vigilance officers
  • Child Protection Committee and School Security Officer have been appointed
  • Child helpline numbers have been displayed in all classrooms and corridors
  • First Aid and Fire-safety training has been given to the staff to attend to emergencies
  • Police verification of all staff members has been executed
  • Students are not left unsupervised
  • Lady attenders have been stationed near restrooms
  • The pre-school students are always accompanied to the washrooms by a female attendant
  • Any sporting activity is always conducted on the field or the basketball court, in plain sight. For pre-primary children, the respective lady class teachers also accompany the students for all sports.
  • There is constant vigilance and rounds made by the Principal, Coordinators and Administrative Staff
  • The community always keep alert for any unknown/suspected persons loitering outside the campus
  • All visitors, including parents, are required to make an appointment before they enter our campus
  • Significant care is taken to ensure that only visitors with confirmed appointments are allowed to enter campus during work hours
  • Students attendance is taken in the morning and in the afternoon
  • Students opting for school transport assemble in their respective bus lines and board the bus with a lady attender after their attendance has been taken by a faculty or student leader

A child’s schooling experience immensely influences their life. Daily experiences of success, when socializing and partaking in academics and co-scholastics activities can contribute positively to the self-esteem and well-being of children. Students face various challenges at different stages of development and require guidance and support to learn how to function effectively within their environment. An expert’s guidance can facilitate this process through counselling with the teachers, parents and students – as one interconnected system.

At Legacy School, we have a well-trained Clinical Psychologist to promote the mental health and well-being of members of our community. The Counsellor works in tandem with teachers, parents, students and the School management to develop and maintain an environment that enhances the quality of life amongst all individuals. Our ethical professional practices adhere to international norms in Counselling in the context of complete confidentiality, respect for individual beliefs and cultures.

Our Counselling department offers following services on campus:

  1. Individual counselling / therapy sessions (cognitive behaviour therapy) for students for academic, interpersonal social-emotional issues
  2. Life skills training for self-reliance, critical thinking skills and social cooperation
  3. Comprehensive sex education encompassing discussion on awareness of physical-sexual-emotional-cultural issues, healthy relationships and socialization
  4. Individual/group sessions for teachers to adapt healthy coping strategies to strengthen student-teacher relationships and to promote a more conducive learning environment
  5. Individual/group sessions for parents (cognitive behaviour therapy, psycho-education, emotion focused therapy) for dealing with parenting challenges for students of different age groups
  6. Parenting workshop series for parents of toddlers, pre-adolescents and adolescent students
  7. Aptitude-personality assessment and counselling of high school students to make informed career decisions
  8. Screening and intervention for students at risk of academic and emotional-behavioural difficulties including learning difficulties and / or attention issues

Legacy School has interwoven several events into its calendar to allow children to develop various skill sets that enhance their abilities and nurture their innate potential.

With the commencement of each academic year, the Investiture Ceremony at Legacy School marks the heralding of the tenure of our new Student Leaders. It is a special occasion where, the School bestows upon the newly elected Student Leaders their roles and entrusts them with the responsibilities.

Sports Day

At Legacy School we encourage the 5 S’s of Sports – Stamina, Speed, Strength, Skill and Spirit. The Sports Day is a celebration of this indomitable spirit of our students which is showcased through inter-house matches, exciting races, competitions and displays.

Legacy School hosts ‘Chiaroscuro’ an annual Art Festival, which brings together aspiring artists from a mosaic of schools, and provides them with a unique platform to enhance their creativity and understanding of the various facets that constitute Art and Design.

Based on the theme for the year, students of Legacy School join hands to create original works of art to decorate the school and showcase their ingenuity. The festival provides peers from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to liaise, connect and exchange creative thoughts. It is also a chance for students to apply their understanding of English literature and language, business skills and creativity.

In the past, we have been privileged to have artists like Paul Fernandes, Suresh Jayram, R.D. Roy, Jay Verma, Amresh Bijjal and Rohit Chakravarthy be part of this unique and amazing festival.

Joy of Giving Week

December marks the beginning of the ‘Joy of Giving’ week at Legacy School. Building further upon our on-going Amnesty International’s Human Rights in Education program, we encourage our students to reach out and make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate than themselves.

Joy of Giving week extends an opportunity to all members of our school community to participate actively and be a part of this initiative. In keeping with the tradition at Legacy of enabling children to be the catalysts of change, the members of our community help bring a smile and instil a heart of giving in our children.

Winter Carnival

The Winter Carnival at Legacy School has come to be a tradition and has grown with each passing year. The event allows friends, relatives, families and students to come together to celebrate the festive season, have fun and give thanks for the year that is coming to an end.

Dimensions is an inter-house cultural and literary competitions organised by the Student Council for students of all grade levels.

Every turn reveals an unexpected and beautiful array of patterns. Students are all unique and this showcase celebrates the confluence of all their talents and abilities. Each interaction creates moments, where their learning is pertinent, beautiful and none repeating; where all are connected through their different perceptions.

Kaleidoscope provides students with an opportunity to pursue their interest and demonstrate their talent whether it is being backstage or in the limelight. While the performers on stage have learn their choreography and lines, those behind the scenes work quietly to help execute this show with precision.

This show highlights the collective effort, talents and abilities of all our spirited students, faculty, staff members and instructors.

Citizenship & Service

Community Service is an integral part of our curriculum and learning environment. Our students go beyond the school boundaries to paint houses, restore lakes, collect e-waste, renovate underprivileged schools and reflect on their learning experiences. We encourage our students to engage in these service learning projects as they allow them to develop a sense of gratification and pride in their ability to positively influence the lives of others and impact change as responsible citizens.

Parent Collaboration

Legacy School collaborates with its parents, and members of the greater community, to form partnerships that enhance the learning experience for our children beyond the scope of their prescribed curriculum. We are always appreciative of the time and effort parents take to connect with us to share their interests and areas of expertise across the various realms of our school life.
